A better idea was to no never get in brawling range as Yamato to begin with. What I should have done was blast him on his extremities and Overmatch the hell out of him. Way later did I only find out why: Armor / Overmatch, Autobounce mechanics. I saw my 460mm AP shells fly towards his armor belt and they all bounced, I was confused. I went after the armor belt because it looked like a broadside (but really wasn't). In another game an Iowa player was charging at an angle towards me, range was about a dozen or so km. I had blasted broadside Iowas before with her. Semi-related experience: Long ago when I was new and a potato, I was using my first Tier X ship, Yamato. They may not get Citadel hits, but a few Battleship AP shells doing Pen damage is going to hurt. However, you can only get away with that up to a certain point, especially if the opponent has guns that can Overmatch your upper belt and extremities, and he knows it. I used to brawl using Roma, Alabama, who are quite susceptible to getting Citadeled on the sides, particularly the former. It could probably be done, just like how some guys could take a 'squishy' BB and brawl, tanking via the angled armor belt and not the bow. What I didn't expect was WG to propose trying to force them to be brawlers.
